After years of prayer and dedication, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic radio station began broadcasting from its studio located at Mt. Carmel High School in Benque Viejo del Carmen, Central America. The station was the dream of Fr. John Mchugh, who was Pastor of Mt. Carmel Parish for 30 years. Its broadcasts reach 15,000-20,000 people in a 10 to 30 mile radius.
As a Catholic radio station, we are faithful to the Magisterium of the Church and to the Holy Father. We follow the directives of the two Bishops in the radio stations coverage area, Bishop O.P. Martin of Belize and Bishop Oscar Julio of Peten, Guatemala. Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Radio , is managed by John Marhevka, lay servant of The Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity . There are currently 3 paid employees, the rest are volunteers. Also, a work study program is in effect to benefit the youth of the high school, helping to give interested pupils the chance to learn about electronics and broadcasting.
